Quite possible that I'm dreaming it as it's been a while, but download a file and if it doesn't ask you for a location to save it from the get go, hide the DL and access downloads from the Browser menu.
When Symtorrent first came out, I was able to download torrent files on my N73 (I think) and it would open Symtorrent automatically. I know for a fact this used to work, but haven't tried it on my N95.
just tried again with Y-tasks (+Y-Server, Y-Filetypes) - you can't even create new filetypes with it - only change the existing ones... so it's useless for that purpose.
@futsoulja: i barely can believe that. i have my N95-1 almost since it's birth, and tried that already with the first firmware release.. never worked. @constantine also tried it then (we discussed that already several month ago) - never worked.
@afr hmmm, you seem confident that it didn't so maybe you're right. It's been a long time since I tried it. also on n95-1 since birth. perhaps I transferred the torrent to my phone via usb?

one of the new features of the beta is to safe files/downloads from the internet to a local drive. that's a first for any S60 browser, afaik..

I've never tried with a torrent file but the S60 can save downloads in a directory of your choosing.

really? never managed to do that before..

yea that doesn't happen in S60. if it doesn't know the filetype it doesn't even dl the file.

@constantine: exactly.

Tried adding the extension with Y-Tasks and associating it with the torrent app? Don't have my N95 with me today or I'd try it out...

yep. didn't work last time i tried this. i guess the S60 browser has it's own dl rules..

Well now downloading a non supported file is possible with a small work around. http://tinyurl.com/452939

Right - I would think that the same basic idea would work with Y-Tasks, but simplified. There's an associations tool within the app.

@vaibhavsharma: nice workaround.. :) although not free, and a little complicated if one wants to download just a random file once in a while..

@afr True, but comes in real handy for .rar files which I regularly get via Email.

I used opera to save the torrent and downloaded the movie with systorrent and watched it with coreplayer!

@futsoulja: yep, very well possible. at least that's what i (also) did until now.. ;)

@vaibhavsharma: hehe, isn't that cool? :) what download rate did you reach with symtorrent? (i assume that's the client you used on S60)
1 year, 7 months ago by afr
dammit, my version of opera mini doesn't dl my torrent files. i get errored out.

@constantine: yep, you need to set the permissions first in appmanager.. (allow edit user data, etc)

@afr I'm not so sure.. I put the phone on charge and slept off. In the morning I saw the movie! ;)
